For sale: Antique Monmouth Pottery Co Salt Glaze Butter Crock. Signed on the bottom, MONMOUTH POTTERY CO. It measures approx. 4 3/4" tall by 7 1/4" wide. This crock has a very nice turkey dropping of albany glaze that spilled over the side onto the salt glaze adding to its character. There is no post factory damage, just some normal factory imperfections which include a completely glazed over chip on the top rim and few partially glazed over on the bottom (close-ups included). There are no cracks, hairlines, or repairs.
The Monmouth Pottery Company had its run from 1894 through 1905 when it combined with 7 other pottery and stoneware companies to form the Western Stoneware Company, Illinois.
